When the sun finally begins to shine and the flowers bloom, you may get the feeling that you need to de-clutter your closets, liven up your home décor, and give your living space a deep clean. But, while you’re in the mood for spring cleaning, don’t forget an important piece of your marketing strategy that needs a good polishing as well — your web presence.
Update the winter drab of your pages and incorporate fun elements to attract new followers and entice existing ones with three tips on how to freshen up your social media pages:
Even if you already have amazing photos across your social sites, now is the perfect time to give them a refresh. Start by replacing your cover photos on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube with a new image. Whether you choose something seasonal, a refreshed image of the inside of your business, or even a banner ad for your business, make sure you do so across all pages. While you need to spice up your image, you want your brand to remain consistent and easily recognizable across all of your social media accounts. And, don’t forget to update your identity photos through Google My Business.
Have you looked at your fans and followers lately? If you haven’t, now is the perfect time to do so. First, go through the list of those who follow you on Twitter and follow them back. Next, look at who you follow on Twitter and what pages you’ve liked on Facebook. If there are any outdated pages, ones lacking recent posts, or accounts that look like spam, go ahead and click unfollow or unlike. Then, search for keywords that are relevant to your business on Twitter and Facebook. For example, if you’re a cleaning company, search for “cleaning” and “home improvement” related accounts. Follow as many as you’s like, which should result in some follow backs on Twitter or new likes on your Facebook page. Also, make sure you’re following industry leaders to stay informed about what’s going on in your business’ vertical.
Now is the perfect time to think outside the box and test out some fun social strategies. When’s the last time you hosted a contest on your social sites?Contests are a great way to bring in new fans and followers for your profiles. Create simple rules, run it anywhere from one week to one month, and give a prize everyone loves — money or a voucher for your service. Announce the contest regularly on your pages, and hand out flyers to your customers with QR codes on them so they can easily visit your page to enter.
Another way to get creative is to hop on the hashtag train. There are multiple ways you can incorporate hashtags into your posts. #MotivationMonday or#ThrowbackThursday are very popular ones that all kinds of accounts use, so posting on one of those days with that hashtag is the perfect way to get new eyes on your content. You could also start an original hashtag. For example, if you’re a dentist, encourage your patients to snap a selfie after their cleaning and post it with #SmileSelfie or include your business name in the hashtag. Whichever route you take, just make sure you stay consistent and post or share on the same day every week.
In short: update, follow new accounts, and get creative to freshen up your social media profiles. Springtime is the perfect time to clean up your web presence and try something new. Let us know how you’re going to give your web presence a refresh in the comments!
